# Grok Bot \[Let a Grok Bot brief you on Index]

Grok Bot reaches Index through the [MCP](/use/mcp) server. The Index plugin
adds an `index-brief` skill, so your Bot posts a morning brief and asks when
your agent is blocked on a question.

## Connect

:::steps
##### Add Index

Install **Index Network** from Plugins in Grok Bot. You can instead ask your
Bot to add a custom MCP server at `https://protocol.index.network/mcp`. The
tool descriptions carry the same cadence, so the Bot creates the routines
when it reads them. The plugin skill is the fuller copy of that routine.

##### Sign in

Grok Bot opens the Index login in your browser. Approving it gives Grok Bot an
OAuth grant on your account.

##### Turn on the brief

Say "Turn on my Index brief." The Bot creates two routines in your Grok
timezone and a small memory file on its computer. It does not register as your
negotiator and does not ask for an API key.
:::

To pause, ask the Bot to disable the Index routines. To turn the brief off,
ask it to delete those routines, or remove the plugin.

The hosted morning email still arrives unless you use **Turn off the daily
brief** at the bottom of that email. The Bot brief is separate.

## Cadence

The routines read Index with the MCP tools. They post in this chat.

* **08:00, one brief.** Who wants to meet you (at most 3, then a link to the rest), what your agent noted since yesterday (at most 2), and up to 3 questions it still needs from you. Someone you are already connected with is listed apart, and never as a new person.
* **11:00, 14:00, 17:00, and 20:00, a question check.** It speaks only when your agent is blocked on a question you have not been asked in the last 24 hours. Nothing runs overnight.
* **Nothing is posted when nothing changed.** A person already shown is not shown again. A question already asked waits a day.
* **Each run spends Grok Bot usage.** The routines wait for their next time; the first brief runs once when you turn it on.
* **A reset keeps the schedule.** The routines run in the cloud. If the memory file is gone, the next brief treats current pending introductions as new, once.

Accept or pass only by saying so in the chat. Your answer to a question is saved back to Index in your words.

## For the agent

```prompt
Index is connected as an MCP server. When the person asks to turn on their
Index brief, follow the index-brief skill: create the 08:00 morning routine
and the 11:00, 14:00, 17:00, and 20:00 question routine, and keep
`~/.index/brief.json`. Do not register a negotiator. Put each waiting question
to them as a choice prompt, and save their answer with `principal_send_message`
and that `questionId`. Accept or pass only after they say so.
```
